Hello, I’m Irene Parsons (Hazleton Art)
Based in Hampshire, I create original Cyanotype artwork (Photograms) using beautiful botanicals and sunshine, with no lens required!
Why Cyanotype? Well, I just love it, pure and simple, so much so that I have built my business around it.
For me, Cyanotype seemed the natural choice to create images of beautiful flowers and foliage, simple designs that let the botanicals speak for themselves.
My garden and allotment inspire me and provide most of the botanicals used in my art, but I am known to carry a zip-lock bag and scissors on visits to family and friends, just in case I spot a potential beauty in their border! Connecting with nature and creating something with my hands is such good therapy for both the mind and soul.
I love being creative and usually have a project or two underway. Besides art, I enjoy sewing, especially Japanese Sashiko and Boro patchwork; home décor (I have a ‘thing’ for collecting wallpaper samples—ask my husband!) and I adore my garden and allotment. To relax, nothing beats spending time with family and friends or getting lost in a crime novel with a glass of red.
I am keen to grow my business, but sustainably, with a minimal ecological footprint, while exploring the beautiful world of Botanicals and Cyanotype.
