Well, I’m another year older and maybe a little wiser 😊 and as 2024 draws to a close I thought I would reflect on how things in the world of Hazleton Art have been.
I have enjoyed several different experiences this year, selling artwork at two exhibitions, four pieces at Gallery No 30 in Petersfield, and a variety of items at local market stalls. These made me feel very proud.
I ventured into making fabric-framed Tea -light Lanterns, fabric in embroidery hoops and greeting cards (though I said I never would!!)
The best aspect of these adventures was meeting other artists, all very supportive of each other, and lovely customers. Sales on Folksy have been slow, and I need to consider whether I continue to be on the site. I have a website that could become an e-commerce site I can sell from, I’d better speak to Hubby about that as it’s his speciality, not mine.
With my artwork, I have used embroidery thread and ink as embellishment, gold-leaf and posca pens with stencils, which added a different dimension to some pieces.
After Bridgerton 3 was released on Netflix I named a Collection of small, framed pieces after some of the female characters and sold them with a copy of ‘Lady Whistledowns’ newspaper.
I have gained a vast collection of pressed flowers and leaves in my workroom that I need to sort through, along with older pieces of work.
Thinking ahead to 2025, I am starting to formulate my plans for the year, I would like to enter exhibitions again and have an April slot booked at Gallery No 30. I need to sort through which market stalls I want to do and get the dates booked.
Hubby made me a frame that I can hang larger pieces of artwork on at markets/fairs, so I’m not restricted to just table space. I have ideas for new plants to grow in the garden for ‘Cyanotyping’ and ideas about Collage work, and framing ideas.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has supported me this year including my hubby Kev, my children Kaitee and Kris, my lovely customers, Insta buddies, artists, friends and colleagues, I love doing this cyanotype stuff and couldn’t do it without you xx
Best wishes for a lovely Christmas and a Happy New Year
Irene
